About Us

Behind the Menu is dedicated to “celebrating the Treasure Valley culinary scene from pitchfork to plate”

We are, in fact, the only media group focused exclusively on the evolving culinary scene of Idaho’s Treasure Valley.  Through a combination of new media and social media, Behind the Menu engages in conversations about our locally owned culinary community from pitchfork to plate.

Rather than write “reviews”, we prefer to let the people who define our regional “food chain” tell their own stories – their histories, inspirations, culinary missions, and the experiences they are trying to create, whether they are restaurant owners, ranchers, specialty food producers, culinary retailers, farmers, or chefs.

Our website serves as an online publication for original feature stories that we create through blogs, podcasts, and vidcasts.  Facebook functions as a “daily paper” through which we can deliver quick updates as well as share great content and ideas from a multitude of other sources (including our followers).  Finally, we use Twitter as a way of staying in touch with what our followers and the culinary community have on their minds, and we add our own thoughts and observations into the social media mix, 140 characters at a time.
